Rethinking Creativity:
Women in Transdisciplinarity Research
The concept of creativity may need to be rethought from a female research perspective! What creative approaches and themes do women researchers in the arts and science disciplines share? How can creativity rather than efficiency become the basic theme that leads us to work together on urgent environmental and societal issues? Our main aim in this conference is to explore how female researchers push the boundaries of research through creative processes, beyond its utilitarian and exploitative applications that are omnipresent in our current society.

AIMS
Rethinking Creativity: Women in Transdisciplinary Research will be a unique conference of panels and speakers which will highlight the value of creativity by female researchers in both the arts and the sciences. Therefore, we will document and publish the results for further discussions and as a reference for other transdisciplinary researchers in the future. We in all aspects of science believe that science is a creative process in the same way as art, music, design or literature are creative. For example, scientists must use their imagination to come up with explanations and piece together bits of information in a way that makes sense. They also need to generate ideas, alternative methods, solve problems, communicate with others and entertain themselves and the public. Science is not only logical and rational, but also accidental and failure driven. This is why we are interested in collaborating with art researchers to open a dialogue on creativity. We plan to place scientists and artists together under the following themes: Climate change, women and creativity, Intelligence and Representation and Creative Solutions and us – themes that relate to women’s representation and their care for the environment. We also aim to encourage the potential for transdisciplinary collaboration in the future.
C: PLANS FOR THE UNCONFERENCE ACTIVITIES
Beside a standard conference with talks and panels, experimental workshops and activities to engage the public will also be included. These are based on the sharing of creative approaches to propose alternative solutions and encourage the invention of new methodologies for transdisciplinary collaborations. Here our goal is to facilitate discussions that not only highlight new inventions and discoveries but also delve into ideas that are challenging for researchers to articulate within and without their native disciplines.
